about

Dan Joseph - SONOROUS ALCHEMY, C-60 cassette,
Self-released, Washington, DC, 1988

Sonorous Alchemy is a work of ambient-industrial electro-acoustic tape music composed in the late 1980s. It was the second in a three-part series of long-form home-studio works using shortwave radio, processed electric guitars, processed cello and synthesizers.

Sonorous Alchemy circulated in international cassette underground networks via artist-run distributors and stores such as Staalplaat (Amsterdam), The Generator (NYC) Sound of Pig (Long Island, NY), Front d'lest (France), and through artist-to-artist mail exchange.
